The Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery—commonly known as the Green Card Lottery—is a program administered by the U.S. Department of State that offers a pathway to permanent residency (Green Card) in the United States. Each year, up to 55,000 visas are granted to individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S.
